Yes, Christians can get to the end of their ropes...
Dear HCC Family,
Yes, Christians can get to the end of their ropes, but they can never get to the end of their hope!
Hebrews 10:23 is our annual memory verse. Please memorize it and cultivate the habit of quoting it several times a day, for the sake of spiritual nourishment. The verse declares “Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have; for God can be trusted to keep his promise”. The promise referenced is that the good work of redemption that he began in you, count on it, he will be faithful to complete it (Phil. 1:6). It’s not about here; yet while here living a life of love and service for Christ is the only way to peace that transcends the trouble of this world.
This Sunday, you can plan on being encouraged by stories of hope from the Scriptures. If you know of someone who could use some encouragement, take the risk and invite them to church, and then watch God do His work.
Please remember to take some cards to my blog and ask friends and family to check it out. I would love the feedback, and it very well may lead to conversations that trend toward the spiritual. The cards are at the Resource Center in the Sanctuary Lobby.
The HCC event skinny:
· The Game Connection – August 8th drop by between 4pm & 7pm to join between 30 & 40 other HCC folks for cards and table games. Unfortunately, bungee jumping and rattle snake wrangling has been discontinued.
· Jesus gave blood; how about you? August 15th. Sign up for a 20 min slot some time that Sunday while on the HCC campus that day.
· I’m thrilled to have one of our Elders give a firsthand account regarding the wells we have dug in Africa through World Class Cities Ministries. August 22nd will be the presentation in the 9 & 11am services.
Memorize Hebrews 10:23 personally and with your family.
I love you, may the peace of God rule your heart and mind,
Pastor Steve
