Plowing with an Ox and Bear...
Dear HCC Family,
Imagine a farmer who needs to plow a field and uses an Ox and Bear for the job. If the farmer could actually get the Grizzly hooked to the yoke, imagine the trouble he would have convincing the Ox to join forces. In the same way, pick any combination of incompatible animals to attempt to plow with: a horse and a buffalo, a donkey and a cow, a bull and an ostrich.
Now try to imagine lighting a home with darkness, or doing good by being bad.
2nd Corinthians 6 has much to say about the pitfalls of these incompatibilities. Surely, an ox and bear, or a donkey and cow could do some plowing. But it’s not the best approach to achieve the goal, and the work would only be achieved by exerting far more effort than would otherwise be necessary. Furthermore, a great deal of tension and conflict will be the certain result, and maybe even death.
Please read 2nd Corinthians 6 again this week with the above thoughts in mind, to be prepared for the sermon on Sunday.
BIG FAVOR – please register for Summer Bond (SB) this Sunday. RSVP books are at the SB tables in the Sanctuary and Ministry Center lobbies.
HCC Event Skinny:
- Middle School parents – Our VERB Student Ministries will not be able to offer a MS class on Sundays until we find a suitable facilitator. If you have a burden for MS students and would like to investigate facilitating this class, please contact Pastor Jason at jason.harris@heritagecc.net.
- The Fall church wide spiritual growth and SALT Group campaign is under construction – We Need Your Help! October 3, 2010 is the launch date for our church-wide spiritual growth campaign, and we need people interested in leading/facilitating new groups, helping to recruit/sign-up others, and to PRAY. If you are interested or just curious, come to the SALT Group Information table in the Ministry Center Lobby during the IBS on June 20 & 27, 2010. For more info, contact Ron Forde @ 410.674.3656.
I love my HCC family; may the peace of God rule your heart and mind,
Pastor Steve
