Any last words?…
Dear HCC Family,
In the 13th chapter of 2 Corinthians, Paul closes his letter with his “…last words…”. These last words are the Cliff Notes or Readers Digest version of the whole book. It reminds me of the quintessential moment in every movie, play or book where someone is about to be killed. The executioner on cue always says “Any last words?”
Last words are an opportunity to sift the whole of life for the essential meaning. Paul’s last words are not offered as he stands on the gallows, so they may not come across as intense as they could have if he was facing death. However, in this last chapter and in the 11th verse it’s hard to imagine him mustering any more sincerity or passion.
Imagine you’re standing on the gallows and in the noose. What would life come down to for you? What would be left after you sift through the millions of moments and experiences of your life? Could you even get there in that fleeting moment?
This week think about your “last words”. Then in no more words than Paul used, post your “Last Words” on the HCC Facebook page; http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=80227008929.
Don’t forget to continue memorizing our verse for 2010; Hebrews 10:23 “Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have. For God can be trusted to keep his promise”.
