 “POURED WITH A PURPOSE”

"I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of cold water in my name because you
belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward"  Mark 9: 41

“A Cup of Cold Water Ministry” delivers practical acts of love to senior members, including shut-ins and special needs people regardless of their abilities and disabilities at Heritage Community Church. God has created us to love one another and develop relationships that make a difference in our lives not only personally but spiritually. We seek to do God’s will in all of our activities and to serve with Christ’s love.

Our ministry is named “A Cup of Cold Water” since it is about taking care of those who cannot help themselves in Jesus’ name. The blessing is helping someone in need and seeing the  mile on their face and giving all the glory to God. We do this by providing basic home care.

Basic home care includes:

  • Housework
  • Yardwork
  • Basic common home repairs
  • Grocery store shopping
  • Visitation
  • Providing transportation

Three opportunities for you to serve:

1. You can serve once a month:

  • We meet on the first Saturday of every month at 0900 in the church parking lot and go to the home that is already set by our team. This entails
housework and yard work only The time is usually 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. About a half a days work for an eternity of a blessing

2. Be an “On-Call” server:

  • For needs that come up during the week. such as:yard work; a grocery store run;
  • a basic house need that cannot wait
  • providing a ride to a needed destination.
  • Need for “skilled” workers is welcomed……for example, we get requests for basic plumbing help, electrical issues etc…  You will be called by Tobi Beam or Bob Parks to see if you are available to meet the need. Some tools may be required.
Note: This is the area that we need the most help in because we all know things happen” and we may not be able to get to them on the first
Saturday of the month since those are scheduled events.

3. Be a visitor:

  • We have people that do not want anything but someone to talk too. You set the schedule yourself – we give you the name and number and you do
the rest. This part of the ministry is a real blessing because a lot of people
feel that no one cares about them any longer and even a phone call will lift
their spirits and make them feel like they are loved again.
